In expedition cruise sector HX Expeditions, the largest expedition cruise company in the world, is leading the way to a more sustainable expedition cruise travel. Not only the company invests millions into research and development of future expedition cruising, it measures its efforts against multiple criteria and publishes the results in its comprehensive annual ESG report. Hurtigruten Group is also one of the few cruise lines that has announced a carbon neutral ship by 2030 - 20 years ahead of UN goals and most of the industry.
At ECN, we follow their progress and are impressed with what a company can achieve once it sets its mind on a goal, and we are pleased to share with you an interview our CEO Akvile recorded with HX Expeditions' Tudor Morgan, Vice President Sustainability and Industry Relations.
In this interview, we talk about sustainability, what it means to HX Expeditions and Tudor's role as a Chairman of IAATO, International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators. We chat about HX Expeditions' Science Education programme, climate crisis, the importance of transparency when it comes to sustainability, and much more. Spoiler Alert: Tudor Morgan is also an incredibly fascinating interviewee in his own right - a recipient of Queen's Polar Medal, his varied career took him to Antarctica and beyond, working with the British Antarctic Survey, IAATO and expedition cruise sector, giving him a unique insight and skills to understand, and contribute, to this often very complex, and highly rewarding, form of travel.
Enjoy!
